QB Sync: Dissapears no error

Check the Event Viewer for 3 errors in a row of type 'SideBySide'

 

1st Error message:

Generate Activation Context failed for C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBXMLRP2.dll. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

 

2nd Error Message:

Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.MFC. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

 

3rd Error Message

Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFC could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

 

Explanation from Intuit Knowledgebase:

We recently identified a problem in our QBXMLRP2.msm merge module. This would cause missing registry information which would cause it to fail to load properly. This is fixed and is available on request. We also have a repaired QBXMLRP2Installer.exe that is available on request.

 

This problem was hard to solve because there's ANOTHER problem as well. We use a Microsoft merge module to load the VC 8.0 libraries. Unfortunately something is wrong with this merge module and it doesn't always work correctly. So there's a good chance you'll have to run vcredist_x86.exe (from the Microsoft site) in order to get those libraries loaded properly. I expect that we'll have a repaired SDK soon that will account for this problem. But in the meantime, you will have to load this yourself on any systems exhibiting erroneous behavior.

To Test:

You can actually test for this problem ...

C:> cd "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks"

C:> regsvr32 QBXMLRP2.dll

 

*Note: from my experience you might have this problem and running the above command will fix it.  It's like something random just got out of sync.

Other Potential Issues:

If the above solution does not fix your problems the issue could be related to upgrading either Quickbooks or JeSTeR on that particular machine.  Please contact Technical Support (888.310.6118)  and they can get you the QBXMLRP2Installer update exe from Quickbooks to that will ensure your installation is correct.
